Karsen's First Field Trip

This morning I got the chance to go with Karsen's kindergarten class on their first field trip. We went to Miss Beth's beautiful house and property, on a treasure hunt for nature goodies to fill their plastic baggies. She has many trees, fields, trails, and even a lovely pond to sit beside and eat popcorn and drink apple juice.

The look on Karsen and Ellen's faces says it all here...something yucky! Miss Beth did say "Don't put any live animals in the baggies," and my girls sure weren't going to touch the dead ones, either!
After the hike we had our snacks and made a nature alphabet with all of the neat things we found. They talked about how we used our five senses to see, smell, hear, touch, and (not) taste the outdoors.
The whole morning kindergarten and the adults who helped make the field trip extra fun.
Miss Beth was the perfect hostess and we all had a great time in the great outdoors.
Also, an update on last night's soccer games: Austin did well, although he had to play forward and defense, which are neither of his favorite positions. He was oh-so-close to scoring his first goal in the "big league" but it was not to be last night. They are beginning to keep score from now on, and unfortunately his team lost 6-0. Karsen's team continued their dominance among the 4-5 year olds. Karsen went out in the first few minutes of the game and right away scored twice. Her coach said, "Great job," and she told him she was getting ready to score two more. So he put her back in, and she DID score two more. She thinks soccer is "Easy-peasy" (her words) and has a lot of fun. Austin is jealous of all the scoring going on in her world, but we are proud of both of our awesome players.
